Multiplayer agents: what it means
By Soumen Sarkar · October 2026
Multiplayer agents are AI agents whose work a whole team can see, steer and build on as it happens, rather than agents only their own developer knows about.
An agent is single-player when only the person who started it knows what it's doing. It's multiplayer when everyone it affects can follow along: other developers and their agents, the product manager, support, the lead.
Three things make an agent multiplayer:
- Its work is visible: what it's changing, what it assumed and what landed, in words anyone on the team can read.
- Anyone can steer it at the right moment: confirm or correct an assumption in a line, settle a decision, add what a customer said.
- Anyone can continue it: when it stops, it leaves a handoff a teammate or another agent can pick up.
For example, an agent rebuilding sign-up at 2am meets a case the spec doesn't cover and states an assumption. At 8am, the product lead confirms it from the team's Activity page, and it becomes a decision every later agent follows. The developer who started the session never had to pass anything on.
Multiplayer agents are how a team keeps pace with its agents: the agents were always fast, and now the people around them are too. See what is multiplayer AI coding?
The principle behind this: Let the work speak: Our work explains itself, so nobody ever has to come and ask us.

Questions that use it
Move as one at agent speed. Nobody waits. Add Campfyrr to Claude: it briefs every agent before it touches the code, keeps assumptions and handoffs where the team can see them, and never takes your code (what it keeps).
